More Opening Day thoughts

Rarely do I ever make two posts in one day, but I am so PISSED that I MUST rant about this.

Cubs lose today 4-3 in 10. Wow. That sucked. Our team was PATHETIC in every facet of the game. Can't hit, can't pitch, can't do shit! Other than Kosuke Fukudome, Carlos Zambrano, and Carlos Marmol, this team was TERRIBLE. Just downright TERRIBLE. Is this supposed to be the NL Central champions? Come on now, that was a complete joke of a performance out there. Our top 4 hitters were a combined 0-for-15? or something like that.

Of course, today was just a microcosm of the history of this franchise. They deliver the thrills, but in the end, they CHOKE because of performances like that of Kerry Wood and Bobby Howry today. What the fuck was that??? Kerry has been dominating all spring and then gets rocked. Howry was AWFUL. Soriano, Lee, and Ramirez...what the fuck is this, the Division Series all over again? Face it. This team ain't going to the playoffs if we see that kind of hacking style again. We need more players like KosK. Who actually has discipline at the plate. Who actually plays hard and smart baseball, when the rest of our team has a baseball IQ of -50. Dude. This is UNACCEPTABLE. I know this is Opening Day and I might be a little melodramatic here, but we can't rely on Fukudome the whole season. These bums need to pick it up. Theriot went 0-5 today...is he really our leadoff hitter? This is a time where Brian Roberts looks better and better, and FUCK YOU Andy McPhail for being such an asshole and delaying that trade until forever. Anyway, today was one of the most frustrating Cubs games I've seen in a while. This team's plate discipline has not improved WHATSOEVER since the playoffs. And that's gonna bite 'em in the ass this year for sure. I am SICK of watching these hitters flail around at the plate like they have no idea what the hell they're doing.

Brewers will run away with the division if we keep playing like this. Then again, perhaps not, if they decide to keep Gagne as their closer. Good God, he's terrible. He scratches his ass and gives up big HRs in pressure situations. Face it. Gagne SUCKS when he's off the 'roids. But if the Cubs don't improve their plate discipline and baseball IQ, there's no way in hell they even contend for the division crown this year. It's as simple as that. Good thing we have Fukudome to offset guys like Theriot, Lee, Soriano, Ramirez, and Pie who just swing and everything they see, even if the ball's going to the damn backstop.
